Modalities
Swedish: Brings your body back
into balance by directly manipulating the muscles – the
most common massage modality – by using
gliding strokes, friction, compression (among others) to increase
circulation and reduce tension.
Deep Tissue: This technique applies slow, deep massage strokes,
using the breath as a guide, and is especially helpful for chronic
pain, tension, and physical injuries. I usually will offer this
with Sports stretching to increase mobility and to soften hardened
muscular adhesions.
Sports Massage/Soft Tissue
Release: This is some of my foundational
work. I use stretches to open up the muscles of the hips and
chest. The whole theory is about lengthening, getting increased
movement and freedom in the body. I do Pre-event and Post-event
work, meaning that I can prepare you for an upcoming sports event
and help you to heal faster afterward. I have trained on many
athletes, including those preparing for and healing from the
Big Sur Marathon.
Advanced Esalen style: This massage method is characterized
by long, flowing strokes, usually with oil, along with gentle
rocking and stretching. It focuses on physical as well as spiritual
healing, helping you get in touch with your own body. I usually
incorporate these techniques into a regular bodywork session.
Shiatsu: Restores physical and
energy balance to the body by holding points, often in the neck
and upper back, to relieve tension. Often I will include this
technique to help you relax before doing deeper work on an area.
Thai: Using my body to work the
energy lines of the body (also called meridians). In this case
I use my knees, applied directly, to loosen tight hams and sometimes
the back muscles.
Trigger Point: Concentrated finger,
knuckle, or elbow pressure on areas (called hot spots) that usually
refer pain to other areas. I frequently incorporate this technique
into a regular session.
Healing Reiki (2nd Degree)
and Quantum Touch: Using focused,
gentle touch and energy transfer, I balance your own body’s
ability to heal itself. In addition, I sometimes use the breath
(my own) to increase this energy flow to your body. Most men
find this deeply relaxing and healing.
Body Electric: This style of massage incorporates
the use of the body’s
own erotic energy, helping to build a charge using the breath.
Sensually
rich and intensely stimulating, this style awakens your body
to sensation
and provides heightened awareness and response to my bodywork
in your
session.
Emotional Integration: Often men come to me for integration
of old
emotional issues that are stored in the body. All emotional
states are
experienced through the body. We will work with breath and touch
to help
you re-own disconnected parts of yourself, guiding you to welcome
back and
embrace the parts that have become lost and forgotten. |
